Internship in Computer Science (CS 4410) course serves as an upper division elective for CS majors. The goal is for students to ½ûÂþÌìÌà and expand the knowledge and skills they had already developed in classrooms. Students learn to solve real world problems working hand in hand with professionals in their disciplines, making a seamless transition to the professional workplace or towards advanced degress in graduate and professional schools.

Students may get credit by enrolling in CS 4410 for volunteer or paid, off-campus or on-campus work related to their major. Students may register for 1 unit for each 60 hours of work, up to 2 units per semester. CS majors could ½ûÂþÌìÌà a maximum of 2 units of CS 4410 as Major Electives.

How to Sign up for CS 4410?

• Students must identify an internship sponsor prior to registering in CS 4410.
• CS 4410 should be taken concurrently with intership.
• Student must complete the CS 4410 Internship Learning Plan available in the Department Office or online (PDF). This form requires signatures of your Job Supervisor (with his/her business card) and the designated department Internship Coordinator. This form needs to be submitted to the faculty coordinator for approval by the 3rd day of classes.
• Submit the signed form to the Department Office. A permission number to enroll in CS 4410 will be generated for you after faculty approval.
• After enrolling, you will need to submit additional University internship forms at BroncoServe . Here's a brief guide for students from the Center for Community Engagement.
• Students who fail to complete the online forms by the end of Week 2 may be dropped from the class.
• For each unit taken, you are expected to complete a minimum of 4 hours service each week or 60 hours per semester.
• By the end of Week 15, you are expected to submit a 2-page report describing your duties and the value of this experience as it relates to your education and career goals. Please consult your faculty coordinator for the report submission mechanism.
• Grading is based on evaluations from the internship supervisor and the report submitted by the student.
