self-portrait challenge: day 5

Picture
--Was totally going for a street photography vibe here. With absolutely no comedic twist.--
--GRINS--
I had my shutter speed set pretty slow in this image. I held really still. Then anything else moving in the picture would blur. As the subject of this photo, I love how it's subtle. The eye is not necessarily caught by the subject in first glance, but then inexorably gets drawn to the subject in a later glance.
Also, I played with my camera's White Balance setting to bring out the purple in the cup as much as possible. I set it for "incandescent" setting to offset too much warmth and this setting is meant to "cool" the yellow glow a normal lightbulb would ordinarily throw.

You should have seen me walking to this location to shoot. LOL. My backpack was packed to the gills with cameras, lenses and tissue wrapped cup and saucer. It was lightly raining. I got off the MAX and walked right over, set down my backpack and unfolded my tripod and set up my DLSR camera. I took some test shots and then arranged my hat and hair in a mirror. Then I unpacked my cup and saucer on the sidewalk (this is right next to the trolley stop across from the central library - downtown Portland) and walked over to the wall. I snapped 7 pics and got the snap I wanted! Then I meticulously and efficiently packed everything back up and walked off. It probably took 15 minutes in all. If I were a coffee patron sitting in the window, I would have loved to have witness this. --MORE GRINS--

Can't wait to shoot and share more.

AS FOR THE UNIVERSE: The Blazers are strengthening their spirit in fortitude and strength, and they will come back and beat Houston -and everyone else- in due time.
